Benefits of Alkalising
What is Alkalising and Why is it so Vital for health & Well being?
Most of us know that our body temperature must be kept at 37oC and if it goes above or below this we are sick.
What most of us don’t know is what our blood pH should be and if our pH is slightly we are also sick.
pH is the measure of acidity or alkalinity, you may remember it from science lessons at school. If you have a pond you may be familiar with measuring it, if the water is to acidic the fish get sick! This is the same for us and our blood.
The pH of blood should be 7.36, this is slightly alkaline. Many of our daily activities produce a build up of acid in the body; breathing, exercising and eating. The body must deal with this acid and neutralise it to maintain the important alkaline pH. The body is designed to neutralise acid and does it well. However, our western lifestyle and diet is becoming more and more acidic and the body can only cope with so much acid before it gets sick!
Our western diet is very acidic, for example; cereal with milk, coffee, tea or fruit juice for breakfast, sandwich for lunch and meat, potatoes and cooked vegetables for dinner, these are all acidic. We tend to drink very little water which adds to the problem.
There are alkaline foods which help neutralise the acidity and keep us healthy these are mainly raw green vegetables like cucumber, lettuce and grasses. How do you know if you’re over acidic?
